De optionele installatie van het high-res texture pack voor de Xbox 360-versie van Battlefield 3 zorgt wel degelijk voor verschil. Dit verklaarde Battlefield 3's executive producer Patrick Bach tegenover Gamerzines.

Quote: "It does make a difference, yes, absolutely. The whole engine is based around streaming textures, streaming terrain and a lot of other content."

Optionele installatie
Het texture pack voor de XBOX 360 blijft een optionele installatie en moet dus niet geïnstalleerd worden om Battlefield 3 te kunnen spelen. Zo kunnen ook Xbox 360-gamers met een console zonder harde schijf genieten van de game. Echter zullen de graphics dan in standaard kwaliteit afgeleverd worden. Bij de PC- en PlayStation 3-versie is de installatie daarentegen verplicht.

Quote: "The thing with thE3 60 is that you need to be able to give consumers a game where you don't have to install it on a hard drive, because there arE3 60s without a hard drive. So we need to give you the option of installing it, rather than just demanding it. You could call it a 'standard-def' version for thE3 60 if you don't have a hard-drive."

Battlefield 3 wordt op 27 oktober uitgebracht op de PC, PS3 en Xbox 360.
