Veel games maken tegenwoordig gebruik van een ‘online pass’, waarmee aan gamers die games tweedehanDS kopen ook wat kan worden verdiend. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is de volgende game die gebruik gaat maken van een online pass, zo meldt Joystiq. De online pass van Kingdoms of Amalur zal extra content met zich meebrengen.

Activeer je je online pass voor de aankomende game van Electronic Arts, dan krijg je toegang tot de ‘House of Valor faction quest’, die 7 nieuwe singleplayer-quests met zich meebrengt. Waarom er is gekozen voor een online pass, werd als volgt beredeneerd door de manager van 38 Studios:

Quote: For what it's worth, the House of Valor content was not in the finished game/disc at one point, then removed. It isn't there and we're locking you out of it. The House of Valor was created as stand-alone content, and was always intended to be the first DLC. Instead of holding onto it and charging for it later, we opted to give it to everyone who purchases the game new, for free, on launch day. We hope that helps clarify that point, at least."

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning zal 10 februari in de winkels liggen voor de PlayStation 3, XBOX 360 en PC.
